New Starter In Cardiff Sales Team

Riders is pleased to announce our latest addition to the Cardiff sales team Katie Dunkley.

Katie has been passionate about bikes all of her life and has now fulfilled a lifelong ambition to work in a motorcycle shop selling two fantastic brands, BMW and Ducati.

Katie in her own words

I’ve been riding since I was around 6 years old, first of all motocross then road bikes. I have always been interested in custom built motorcycles and my own first build and first custom bike was completed at the tender age of 12, it was a chopper bmx that had 2 sets of forks welded together to achieve the longer forks with help from my dad.

I then went on to build my cg125 café racer when I was 16, I bought it as a field bike in a very sorry state and built it essentially from the ground up. A few people suggested showing it and after my first show I went on to win multiple best in show awards, best café racer awards and best under 18’s build which was a new category in itself, it also published in a few magazines.

Soon after that i got my full bike licence and built my SV650 which started life off as a blue half faired curvy model. I then bought my hornet 600 in pieces, specifically everything was in a recycling box aside from a rolling chassis with the engine in, the rest was more of a puzzle and built it up and gave it a re-spray. After building and restoring so many old project bikes i decided to splash out on a brand new KTM Duke 390 which i ran-in in only 12 days from owning it and is mostly used for Instagram photos.

I am looking forward to doing my unrestricted licence in July then looking for a bigger cc naked bike ideally, as well as a sports bike for track days. I’ve always wanted to work in a bike shop, more specifically Riders as it was local to me and full of bikes that I loved growing up. I was lucky enough to get the job in sales and am really enjoying it here as there is such a great team and lovely customers.

Please make her feel welcome.
